GULMI, Aug 4: The death toll from flood caused by incessant rains in western part of the country has reached 10 with at least three new deaths reported on Saturday.
Two children, who were swept away by flood, were found dead in Gulmi district on Saturday. They were identified as Prakash BK, 13, of Dhurkot VDC, and Dipak BK, 12, of Harichaur VDC. They had drowned while fishing in a swollen river.
In Parbat district, a four-year-old boy died after he was swept away by a flooded river on Saturday in Debisthan VDC-6. The dead child has been identified as Prabesh Kunwar. His body was found near the VDC office.
Meanwhile at least four more people are missing in floods in the region.
Reublica´s Baglung-based correspondent Dilip Poudel reports that at least two people are missing in flood in Baglung district. They have been identified as Jit Bahadur Chhetri, 64, of Bhakunde VDC-7, and Hom Bahadur BK, of Bobang VDC-7.
Similarly, a man was swept away by a local river in Myagdi district. The missing person has been identified as Amar Chantyal, a resident of Darbang VDC.
In Baglung, a mentally-challenged man lost his life when he jumped into a river on Saturday. Mani Bhadra Kandel, 30 of Bihu-4, jumped into the river when he was being taken to a hospital in Baglung for treatment for his mental problems.
