NC cadres demand martyrdom for slain pal

REPUBLICA

RAJBIRAJ, Aug 2: Nepali Congress (NC) cadres have started a relay sit-in at Kalyanpur, Bishanpur Chowk in Saptari district from Thursday, demanding martyrdom declaration for NC cadre Indra Narayan Yadav, who was killed on July 12, alleged by Tarakant Yadav and his son Dipendra.

In their bid to draw the attention of the government to their demand, the agitating NC cadres also held a transport strike along the east-west highway from 1 to 2 pm on Thursday.

The agitating NC cadres have demanded that the government guarantee compensation for the family of the deceased, besides assuring employment and education for his children.

Addressing the protest program, Khagendra Prasad Yadav, president of Nepali Congress Saptari Region No. 6, warned of more intense protests if the government fails to meet their demand. He further said they would gradually increase the duration of the transport strikes along the highway.

He threatened to launch a fast-unto-death sit-in from Saturday.
