Shreya sets new national record at London Olympics

LONDON Aug 1: Shreya Dhital has set a new national record in 100 meter free style swimming with a timing of 1 minute and 10.80 seconds at the London Olympics.
Her previous best was 1 minute 10.82 seconds , also a national record that she set during the 14th FINA World Swimming Championship held in Beijing in July last year. Of the 50 swimmers, she finished 47th this time.
The 17-year-old swimmer is one of the five players from three sports events representing the country in the London Olympics. Shooter Sneha Rajya Laxmi Rana has already taken part in 10 meter air rifle on Saturday. Unable to break the national record, she came 54th among the 56 participants in the event.
Another swimmer Prasiddha Jang Shah is due to compete in 50 meter free style on Thursday, whereas athlete Pramila Rijal is scheduled to participate in women´s 100 meter race on Friday. Likewise, athlete Tilak Ram Tharu will take part in men´s 100 meter race on Saturday.
