KATHMANDU, July 30: Election Commission (EC) on Monday said Constituent Assembly (CA) election not possible on November 22 as the government fail to amend interim constitution and election regulation.
Organizing a press meet at its office in Kantipanth, Acting EC Chief Nilkantha Uprety said it is unfortunate to announce the country cannot witness the CA election on November 22 over the lack of regulation.
“The parties fail to reach to a consensus on amending interim constitution,” Uprety said.
The EC had set a deadline of July 22 to remove legal and constitutional difficulties by amending election related Acts and the interim constitution to hold the election on the stipulated date.
