MPRF-R breaks links with JP Gupta

REPUBLICA

BIRGUNJ, July 26: A faction of the Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (Republican) led by Acting Chairman Raj Kishor Yadav has dissociated itself from party chairman JP Gupta, who is serving jail term for corruption.

´This party will no longer have any link with former Chairman JP Gupta as he has been convicted of corruption that amounts to moral turpitude," said Yadav at a press conference organized to make public the decisions of his faction´s extended meeting.

The party had named Yadav as acting chairman after Gupta was convicted of corruption some five months ago while retaining Gupta as party chairman. The Yadav faction´s decision has come a month after Gupta lent support to another faction led by Nandan Dutta.

The meeting also endorsed the central committee meeting´s decision to expel central committee members Nandan Dutta, Atmaram Prasad Sah, Surita Kumari Sah and Rajiv Jha from the party.
