The society is protesting the government decision to provide lifetime vehicles, apartment and other facilities to the former prime ministers, home ministers, chief justices and speakers.

Last week, the government had decided to provide state facilities including apartment, vehicles, fuel expenses and employees for their personal secretariat to the former presidents, prime ministers, home ministers, chief justices and speakers since the establishment of multiparty democracy.

Regmi expressed dissatisfaction saying that the politics was being made a business-oriented instead of social service by offering heavy perks and facilities to the former VIPs at a time that country´s constitutional and political crisis was deepening in the country.

Former chairman of Federation of Nepali Journalists Bishnu Nishthuri, Rameshwor Upadhyay, general secretary of Nepal University Teachers´ Association, senior journalist Yubraj Ghimire and others have also expressed solidarity to the relay hunger strike.
