ANNFSU-R activist, involved in attack on Dharan school bus, nabbed

DHARAN, July 24: Police on Tuesday nabbed an activist of All Nepal National Free Students Union (Revolutionary) aligned with Mohan Baidhya-led CPN-Maoist, in connection with an incident in Dharan in which a school bus was set ablaze for defying strike enforced by the students body.
District in-charge of the students´ union Prahlad Raut has been arrested from his house in Dharan-11, this morning by the Area Police Office, Dharan.
A day earlier, ANNFSU-R students had set the bus (1 Kha 3204) of Delhi Public School on fire early in the morning near the Seuti bridge along the Itahari-Dharan road section in Sunsari district. Similarly, they had vandalized anther school bus of the same school. According to police, a dozen of school children were injured in the attack.
Earlier, Raut had said that the school was targeted for high fees and the school curriculum did not comply with the national curriculum. He also warned of further crackdown on the school if it did not change the fee structure and curriculum.
The union has been pressuring those Plus Two level educational institutions having English names to change their names and maintain uniformity in fee structures.
