KATHMANDU, July 23: As a part of its expansion drive, Nepal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCCI) on Monday opened Bhaktapur Chapter of the Chamber eying to promote exports of local crafts and other products in the Chinese market.
Chinese ambassador to Nepal Yang Houlan inaugurated the chapter. He also presented the chapter with a computer set to support its operations.
“NCCCI has always played an instrumental role in promoting bilateral trade by providing critical inputs, raising the problems seen in bilateral trade and facilitating the interaction between entrepreneurs of the two countries,” said Houlan, addressing the function.
He also expressed commitment to making all possible efforts to further simplify the trade arrangements between Nepal and China and facilitating the bilateral trade.
President of NCCCI Rajesh Kaji Shrestha highlighted the problems, prospects and opportunities of Nepal-China trade. As for the newly opened chapter, he said it will play important role in promoting the traditional crafts of Bhaktapur, which have a huge business prospect in China.
“Bhaktapur so far is known as a popular tourism destination. Now the chapter will work to develop the city as a handicrafts manufacturing hub. NCCCI will extend all possible support to the chapter to materialize this vision,” said Shrestha.
President of Bhaktapur chapter of NCCCI Yuvak Rajbhandari said the products, especially handicraft items, of Bhaktapur are already liked by tourists and overseas customers. “We will work to further promote exports,” he stated.
