  Lalitpur shut over resettlement plan for squatters

LALITPUR, July 22: Lalitpur has been shut down on Sunday in protest of the government´s plan to settle down squatters at Sundarighat in Lalitpur.

Locals have announced Lalitpur shutdown for three days beginning from today to protest the government´s plan to relocate squatters at Sundarighat by constructing makeshift.

Bandh enforcers had vandalized two vehicles in Balkhu while police held some demonstrators from Dhobighat area.

Simu Basnet of Struggle Committee claimed that police had apprehended huge number of protestor.

Main market area and shops have been closed down and some vehicles are seen plying on the road in the district, said Lalitpur police sources.

Local people have come up with protest when the government made preparation to construct 40 makeshifts at Sundarighat to temporarily relocate squatters evicted from Thapathali.
