JANAKPUR, june 8: A group of 44 leaders of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (Democratic) resigned from the party en masse in protest of the party´s decision to expel senior leader Sarat Singh Bhandari .
Those expelled from the party include district Vice-chairman Maha Shankar Thakur, Joint Secretary Bijaya Kumar Shahi, district members Shashi Bhusan Jha, Surya Narayan Mahato, Ram Shrestha Nayak, Rubi Mishra, Raj Kishor Singh and trade union leader Ram Naresh Tiwari.
The leaders said they decided to quit the party because the party expelled Bhandari and mistreated him.
However, district Chairman Uma Shankar Adgariya said the leaders were expelled from the party for their involvement in activities against party statute and discipline.
