KATHMANDU, April 27: Army School started the 5th Chief of the Army Staff Inter-School Running Cricket Tournament with win on Friday. In the match played at the home ground, Army School defeated Nepal Police School by 56 runs.

Winning the toss Army School scored 140 runs at the loss of seven wickets in the 20 over match. Kiran Shrestha scored 43 runs off 41 balls while Gunjan Yadav was unbeaten with 23 runs. Bhupendra Oli grabbed four wickets for Police School. Chasing the target of 141 runs Police School scored 84 runs in 17.1 overs. Bhupendra Oli was the highest scorer with 22 runs. Kiran Shrestha and Suman Kuwar grabbed two wickets each.

U-19 cricket winners felicitated

KATHMANDU: Garnish School of Hospitality Management on Friday felicitated the winners of U-19 National Cricket Tournament Region No 6 Baitadi. The team was felicitated with cash prize of Rs 50,000. CA member Gagan Thapa presented the cash prize. Baitadi had won the final against Region No 2 Birgunj by four wickets in the final on Thursday.

New Diamond in semis

KATHMANDU: New Diamond Academy, Chandeshwari Yuwa Club and Dhankuta District Sports Development Committee on Friday advanced into the semifinals of the First Chandeshwari Cup Open Women´s Volleyball Tournament in Ramechhap. New Diamond defeated Manthali High School in three straight sets 3-0. Manthali lost its next match against Gokul Ganga High School 3-0 and crashed out of the tournament from Group A.

In the Group B match, Manthali Martyr Memorial Campus crashed out of the tournament with a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Chandeshwari and 3-0 defeat against Dhankuta. Winner of the tournament will bag a purse of Rs 50,500 while the runner-up will receive Rs 30,500.
