Nembang confident about timely settlement of statute disputes

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, April 12: Constituent Assembly Chairman Subash Chandra Nembang has expressed his confidence that all outstanding issues surrounding the new constitution writing process would be resolved within April 18.

Speaking to a media team from the Reporters Club Nepal on Thursday, Nembang said the process of army integration has now irreversibly moved ahead, bolstering the prospect of resolution of all the disputed issues by that time.

The CA chair also said he is upbeat about promulgation of the new constitution within the May 27 deadline and stressed on the need for regularly holding meetings of Constitutional Committee and its dispute settlement sub committee, as agreed earlier.

Likewise, he described the recent handover of control of PLA cantonments, combatants and their weapons to the national army as a ‘historic’ decision and hailed the political parties for being able to take the decision.
