KATHMANDU, Feb 19: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) President Ganesh Thapa on Sunday said FIFA President Sepp Blatter was excited regarding his visit to Nepal. Thapa made such a remark during an interaction with media persons regarding the final rounds of AFC Challenge Cup scheduled to be held from March 8-19in Kathmandu.
Blatter, the supremo of world football governing body is due to visit Nepal to inaugurate the final rounds of AFC Challenge Cup, the biggest football tournament ever to be hosted by Nepal. "If we could give him a better impression of Nepal and Nepali football during his visit it will be beneficial for the future of Nepali football," Thapa said.
Thapa also said that almost half the number of matches in the Challenge Cup were likely to be held under flood lights. "We have received generator with five hour backup as grant from the government of China," Thapa said. He also thanked UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal for taking initiatives to bring the generator from China.
Speaking on the same occasion, ANFA Vice-president Lalit Krishna Shrestha said the successful hosting of the tournament was related with the pride of the country. He also pleaded for support from all stakeholders.
