REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, Nov 25: MoneyGram International, a leading global money transfer agency, Wednesday announced the opening of two new agent locations in Nepal through its agent partner Samsara Pvt Ltd.

According to a press release issued by the company, one of the new locations will operate at an altitude of 17,600 feet (5,365 meters) making it the highest money transfer agent location in the world, while the other is said to operate at Namche Bazaar (3,440 meters). The expansion of MoneyGram´s service in Nepal represents the latest success in its effort to expand footprint on the Indian subcontinent.

According to Harsh Lambah, South Asia Regional Director for MoneyGram international, South Asia is a key growth market for MoneyGram. "MoneyGram has added more than 6,000 agent locations in India alone and the company remains focused on adding more locations throughout the region to meet the vast and growing remittance needs of the people," he added.

MoneyGram believes that these new locations will save the locals and tourists from trek of three days or more that they would have to make to receive transactions.

flydubai to launch Kathmandu flights

KATHMANDU, Nov 25: Dubai´s first low cost airline, flydubai, now will expand its networks to the east, making Kathmandu its eleventh route on its network.

Issuing a press statement Wednesday, the company said it would begin Kathmandu flights from December 15 and further added that it believed the popular destination at the foothills of the Himalayas will be more accessible to a greater number of the people in the UAE.

"Introducing Kathmandu will mean one of the most exciting travel destinations in the world becomes more accessible to people in the Gulf region. It will also give Nepalese community of the UAE greater opportunity to visit home more often," Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, said in the statement.

flydubai will operate four flights a week to Kathmandu.

Varun, PepsiCo launch HIV/AIDS awareness campaign

KATHMANDU, Nov 25: Varun Beverages (Nepal), the bottlers of Pepsi products in Nepal and PepsiCo International have launched HIV/AIDS Awareness Program.

According to a press release, this CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program is aimed at creating awareness about spread and prevention of HIV/AIDS.

The program stresses on bringing those infected with this disease into the mainstream and seeks to dismiss all myths and wrong beliefs related to this issue.
