SURKHET, April 26: Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Yam Lal Kandel, met Finance Minister Barshaman Pun and discussed the projects that should be given special priority in the budget of the coming fiscal year.

He urged the Finance Minister to give special priority to Karnali corridor (Surkhet-Humla) and Bheri corridor (Surkhet-Dolpa) keeping them under national pride project. 

Chief Minister Kandel said he also asked Minister Pun to establish a project office with separate structure and arrangement of necessary budget to complete the project as soon as possible.

He also urged for an arrangement to implement the project of upgrading Ratna Highway from Kohalpur to Surkhet into four lanes. This project has not been implemented even after incorporating it in the government's annual policy and programme.

The Chief Minister also urged to make arrangement of necessary budget to increase access of air service of Karnali province with federal capital and develop it as the center of domestic flights by expanding and upgrading Surkhet airport as well as to allocate necessary budget for the reconstruction of private housing and other structures in quake-hit Jajarkot, Rukum (West) and Salyan districts. 

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Shakti Bahadur Basnet, was also present on the occasion.
