Their talks were focused on forming a high-level political mechanism and ending other political deadlock, said an aide to the prime minister.
"The one-hour-long discussions were focused on ending the ongoing political deadlock, to immediately form the high-level political mechanism, building mutual understanding among the political parties to expedite the constitution writing and peace process," the aide said.
Earlier on Sunday, top leaders of the three major political parties – Dahal of UCPN (Maoist), Girija Prasad Koirala of Nepali Congress and Jhala Nath Khanal of CPN-UML and the prime minister – had underscored the need of immediate formation of such a mechanism at a tea party organized by CPN-UML.
Though top leaders of major political parties were found at single platforms publicly in the past couple of days, the one-to-one meeting of the two leaders indicates that recent political events are unfolding to a very good political environment.
The UCPN (Maoist) leaders were previously officially boycotting any program participated by the prime minister and all the cabinet ministers.
