Rajbhandari defeated Nepal Champion Badrilal Nepali in the last round of the tournament in 23 moves. Rajbhandari finished the tournament with 8.5 points from nine rounds. This is the first win of Shrestha in the rating chess tournament. He bagged a purse of Rs 11,000.[break]
With seven points, FIDE Master Sujendra Prashad Shrestha finished in the second position. Shrestha defeated former Nepal champion Surbir Lama and received Rs 8,000 in direct encounter. Shrestha finished in the second position ahead of Navin Tandukar and Rajan Puri. Tandukar and Puri had seven points each.
Tandukar defeated Puri in the last round for the third position. Tandukar received Rs 6,000 for the third position. FIDE master Manish Hamal, Badrilal Nepali, Lekh Bahadhur Thapa, Surbir Lama, Bijay Dangol and Niraj Niraula finished from fifth to the 10th position.
Sudeep Bajracharya finished in the first position and Manoj BK in second position in the Unrated section. Prem Krishna Shrestha was adjudged the best player at the local level. Altogether 67 players from 17 districts had participated in the tournament.
