70 strike enforcers arrested from Valley

KATHMANDU, July 25: Police have arrested some 70 cadres of the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist from different parts of Kathmandu Valley during the nationwide strike enforced by the party on Monday.

Chief at Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu SSP Bikram Singh Thapa said that some of the protesters were arrested with petrol, adding that an investigation was underway.

The strike enforcers allegedly set two taxis on fire at Minbhawan and Gongabu in the wee hours this morning.

Police said a taxi, Ba 1 Jha 5262, might have been set on fire by the owner at Minbhawan to claim the insurance.
