NHRC urges consensus

KATHMANDU, May 19: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Wednesday urged political parties to forge national consensus for the promotion and protection of human rights.



Issuing a press statement, NHRC Chairman Kedar Nath Upadhyaya urged the political parties to leave aside their power centric politics and mutual differences before the CA term expires on May 28.



He warned that failure to forge national consensus would push the country toward violence and political instability.



He also said the constitution must be promulgated from CA brought about through the sacrifice of people.
