KATHMANDU, April 18: Lawmakers of the ruling CPN-UML in its parliamentary party (PP) meeting in Singha Durbar on Sunday placed the responsibility for the death of party cadre Digendra Rajbanshi on party leadership and Home Minister Bhim Bahadur Rawal.

Rajbanshi, who was in his late sixties, committed suicide hanging from a tree on the premises of UML head office in Balkhu on Saturday. [break]

Frustrated Rajbanshi committed suicide after he failed to get his son a job even after months-long struggle.

Lawmaker Ravindra Adhikari said that the issue prevailed in the meeting.

Members claimed that the widespread apathy in the UML leadership toward party rank and file forced genuine cadres like Rajbanshi to take such a step.

It is reported that Rawal´s harsh words in response to Rajbanshi´s request to get his son a job prompted the frustrated father to commit suicide. “However, he (Rawal) denied media reports and said he did not misbehave with him,” UML Chief Whip Bhim Acharya told media persons.

According to Adhikari, a majority of UML parliamentarians laid emphasis on resolving the ongoing political deadlock by forming a consensus government.

Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and Party Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal are scheduled to reply the queries raised by the parliamentarians during the meeting. The meeting will be wrapped up after the top leaders´ answers.
